Training Schedule

In order to optimize your training, we suggest you establish a training schedule.  Since not all students and associate members are sure what to do, we will make some suggestions.  It is always best to practice everyday, but if  you can't do the best you can.  It is better to practice more times per week than to practice less days, and more time.  The repetition needs to be daily, so if you can only get in 10 minutes, that's fine.  In the spirit of our Kung Fu predecessors who practiced everyone day for hours, we need make as much time as we can.  The more you practice, the better you will get, very simple.

We follow a similar protocol at the Academy:

  • Warm-up before you start to get deep into your workout, 10 - 20 minutes.

  • Do some conditioning exercises like 3 Star Blocking Drills or 8 Way Blocking Drills, 15 - 30 sets.

  • Practice at least two of the 8 Basic Stances.

  • Practice all of the newest material you are learning, every day.

  • Practice at least 1 of your basic forms.

  • As you add to forms, do at least

    • 1 basic form

    • 1 weapon form

    • 1 advanced form

    • 1 2 man form, if you have a partner

  • Practice some qigong or standing meditation for at least 5 minutes.
